Utpatti is a wellness products’ shop inside a yoga institute.
This small 65 square meter wellness products' shop was to be designed in a plot close to the entry of the yoga institute, within it. This parcel of land was ideal for visibility from the road but was tightly bounded by a cafe at the rear, a pond to one side, a pathway lined with trees leading up to the history gallery / cafe to the other side and an internal road in the front . The inception of this design was to celebrate and attract more people to the surrounding context as well as the wellness shop. Being a commercial outlet the location was ideal, but it would be shadowing all the other spaces around it. Thus a conscious design decision was taken, where the most impressive part of the structure was its pergola that directed users in and around the complex. This encouraged user activity in the square in front of the structure and increased the footfall in the cafe and history gallery.

Design Ideation
Architecture at its core is meant to celebrate people, their memories and experiences. The design of "Utpatti : The Wellness Shop" is unique to us as the brief was to design a shop for wellness products at an ideal location, overshadowing all other commercial and cultural spaces. The Yoga institute within which this was to be designed was hoping to get a large number of footfall and hence generate a revenue to run the complex. The pressure was on making this shop the hero of the complex, but instead we chose to highlight the pathways leading to and from the spaces that were getting hidden by the shop.
